Annual Thanksgiving Cookie Bake
Thanksgiving. When you hear that word what do you think of? Probably something along the lines of gratitude and food. Our past Thanksgivings involved us sitting around the dining table with amazing food and sharing what we were grateful for. Our usual answers include, food, a home, friends and family. There is no better time to appreciate what we have and give to others that aren’t as prosperous. So mom wanted to encourage us to do something to make others' Thanksgiving a little warmer!
So in 2017, we had our first Thanksgiving cookie bake and hands down it has become the most popular giving event of this household and funny enough among my friends too. My brother and I would invite our friends over to help us bake. It’s a hanging out with friends sort of baking session. Mom usually handles cookies in and out of the oven while we make the dough, and scoop them into baking sheets. After baking 350 plus cookies, we of course enjoy a few to end the session! Cookies aren’t a traditional Thanksgiving food, but they are easier to make in large quantities and acceptable in our local soup kitchen. And who doesn't love them? We pack them, write a card and dad gets to drop them off on Thanksgiving Day. We all play a role making it our little family tradition to express gratitude.
